The Liverpool Triathlon route is expected to remain the same as in 2010, subject to approval from the authorities. Swim * The swim will take place in the Queen’s and Wapping Docks * All distances will swim a single lap * Participants will be divided into waves and start at regular intervals through the morning. * Wetsuits are compulsory for warmth and added safety – they also help you to swim faster. Bike * The bike route is closed to traffic and will provide a fast 10km lap for all competitors: * Olympic - 4 laps, Sprint – 2 laps and Super Sprint - 1 lap. * Turning left out of Queens Wharf, using Wapping (A5036) west onto Strand Street and Great Edward Street, to reach Great Howard Street heading out to Derby Road. The route travels as far as the Fire Station on Derby Road, turning to return along the same route. At Queens Wharf cyclists continue along the A5036, bearing left at Sefton Street and turning in Parliament Street, just before Grafton Street. * On completing the correct number of laps, cyclists return to transition for the final run phase. Run * A 5km circuit gives 2 laps for Olympic, 1 for Sprint and a shortened lap for Super Sprint. * Runners will be on the left at all times during the run, opposite from in 2009. * Exit transition and follow the marked course. The run course heads along Keel Wharf and Salthouse Quay. At the Albert Dock Gate the run course turns left and joins Strand St, circuiting the Three Graces, before heading along Bath St to the turn point which signifies the farthest point of the run. The course then returns along the same route, along Albert Dock and then continues straight over the Duke's Dock bridge to head back towards transition. This avoids the turns over the covered bridge and the section behind the Arena from 2009. At the end of Keel Wharf, runners will turn joining the run route, from transition as you apprioach the Duke's Dock runners will have the option to turn left for the Finish Line, or Olympic distance athletes continue straight on for the second lap. Sprint and Super Sprint athletes head straight into the finish funnel after 1 lap. The Finish Line this year is on the Piazza opposite the Galleria entrance to the Arena and Convention Centre. Please note there is an incline up to this level from the run course.
