Ironman 70.3 Cancun

Triathlon Serie:

Ironman 70.3 Cozumel, scheduled for Sept. 23, 2012, will replace Ironman 70.3 Cancun in the 2012 schedule.

Ironman 70.3 Series offers up crystal-clear water, a bike route along the route of the ancient Mayans, and a run that has been billed the "most beautiful half-marathon" in the World. We have a lot to look forward to in Cancun next year!

A swim in the crystal clear, calm, turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean. The swim consists of two laps around a rectangular course to complete 1.2 mi (1.9 km). There are buoy markings every 100 meters, and big banana-like buoys at the turning points. No wetsuits will be required as the water temperature sits at 26°C (79°F). The maximum water depth is 30 feet, and the visibility is so good, 100%, that you'll feel as if you were snorkeling!

The two-lap bike course follows along the route of the ancient Mayans, along the new four-lane highway between Cancun and Merida. The road conditions are perfect, so you can just sit in an aero position and concentrate on your breathing and pedaling!

The run course can simply be called "the most beautiful half marathon in the world." Run over Kukulcan Boulevard, the strip of land between the Caribbean Sea and the beautiful Nichupte Lagoon, the course offers dazzling views over the paths of the spectacular golf course. Then you go back in history while running next to the thousand year old Mayan ruins and pyramids know as "El Rey" (The King).
