Ironman Brasil Fortaleza

Triathlon Serie:

Fortaleza, one of Brazil's most popular domestic tourist destinations, has quickly become a worldwide vacation stop. The addition of IRONMAN Fortaleza to the global calendar will introduce the vibrant city and the best of Brazilian culture. Its unique coastal landscape, amazing beaches, relaxing atmosphere and breathtaking scenery makes this a fantastic IRONMAN destination for athletes and their families.

Renowned for its local cuisine and epic sunsets, Fortaleza offers visitors a chance to visit many historic landmarks including the Jose de Alencar Theater, Dragao do Mar Cultural Center and a variety of museums and cathedrals. Families can also explore the spectacular Beach Park (the largest water park in Latin America) or ecological parks including Botanico Park, Coco and IPARK. If taking in the sun on the beach isn't enough, surfing and snorkeling are popular water activities here. Athletes and fans will enjoy warm, Kona-like temperatures and humidity.

The day begins with a one-loop swim starting on the golden sand of Iracema Beach. It's followed by a two-lap bike that begins from the Marina Park Hotel (which hosts the pre-race events) and extends through the cities of Eusebio and Aquiraz after passing Beach Park. The run course follows the palm tree-lined streets of Fortaleza, offering breathtaking seaside views. Along the way, athletes pass the historic city center and many famous landmarks including the famous Iracema Statue.

The inaugural event will be open to 1,500 participants and will offer a $75,000 professional prize purse and 50 coveted age group slots to the 2015 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
